==Stockingford branch line==
Between 1876 and 1959, Stockingford station was the starting point of a freight only branch line which served several local collieries. The branch was opened on 3 April 1876, and served Ansley Hall Colliery, Stockingford Colliery and Nuneaton (New) Colliery. The branch line enhanced the station's importance as a railway centre. It operated until 30th October 1959 when the last colliery it served Ansley Hall Colliery closed.
